Spectacle Blind Flange
A figure-8 blank (also called a Spectacle Blind Flange) is+ a pressure-retaining plate with one solid end and one open end connected with a web or tie bar.
Size range:
  • Size: 1/2” to 60”, DN 12mm to DN 1500mm
  • Pressure class: Class 150 to Class 2,500, PN 2.5 to PN 250
  • Facing: RF / RTJ
A spectacle flange is a specialty flange made of two metal discs attached in the middle by a small section of steel. Spectable flanges get their name because they look like a pair of reading glasses, or spectacles. Spectacle flanges, also known as spectacle blind flanges, are most commonly used on piping systems that need to be separated regularly or where the flow through the systems is regularly stopped. One end of the spectacle flange is solid, while the other end has a hole in the center. The spectacle flange can be rotated to place either the solid or hollow end within the pipe system, thereby opening or closing the flow.
Spectacle Flanges
For pipe Flanges-regularly seperated for isolation, maintenance or reasons, a spectacle extrudes Solution. Typically, spec blinds was mounted in the open position so-your flow pipe operates and is normally. Blinds is mounted onto one of the $number so is need to isolate a, it ' s easy!

5 Different Types of ANSI Flanges

ANSI flange
In case this is the first time you’re hearing the phrase, ANSI flanges simply refers to flanges whose construction meets ANSI (American National Standards Institute) specifications.
Large diameter flanges
These may be either smaller or large diameter flanges and as you would expect, there are a variety of different styles of ANSI flanges used by process engineers across a wide range of industries. Keep reading for brief descriptions of the most common types of ANSI-compliant flanges.
Threaded Flanges
Threaded flanges are a very popular choice, since they can be easily integrated into an assembly without requiring welding. Their threaded design also allows for flanges to be salvaged and reused when an assembly is dismantled, provided the flange is otherwise in good condition.
Slip On Flanges
These flanges are often chosen for applications where no disassembly is anticipated, since these ANSI flanges are welded into place. Despite the fact that welding is required, they are considered to be one of the easier types of flanges to properly fit and align.

Blind Flanges
A blind flange is most often used in applications, which require stopping up the end of a flanged pipe, pressure vessel or valve. As the name implies, these ANSI flanges do not feature an outlet.

Lap Joint Flanges
These ANSI flanges differ from other styles in that their use requires an end connector; the pipe, valve or other product to be connected with the flange does not come into physical contact with it. However, this type of flange assembly allows for the rotation of the flange and makes it well suited for applications where the assembly may need to be dismantled relatively frequently for cleaning and maintenance.

TYPES OF ASME/ANSI FLANGES

ANSI flange
Forged Flanges are perfectly finished with precision using the latest machinery. Forged flange is the best mechanical properties of a flange product, its raw materials are generally tube, and then after cutting and then continue to beat, to eliminate the ingot in the segregation, loose and other defects.
ASME/ANSI Flange types differ in shape, size range and connection method.
The main types of standard flanges are listed below:
WELD NECK FLANGE
Welding Neck Flanges
A weld neck flange ("WN") has a long tapered hub that can be welded with a pipe or a fitting and is normally used in high pressure and low or high temperatures applications.
BLIND FLANGE

Blind flanges do not have a center hole, differently from all other types of flanges seen above, and are used to seal a pipeline, or a valve / pressure vessel and prevent flow. Blind flanges have to withstand remarkable mechanical stress due to system pressure and bolting.
SLIP ON FLANGE

A slip on flange is connected with pipes or fittings by two fillet welds, inside and outside the flange. The diameter of a slip on flange is larger than the diameter of the connected pipe so it can slide on the pipe to fit it smoothly.
THREADED FLANGE
Threaded Flanges, TH Flanges
Threaded flanges are joined to pipes by screwed connections, generally without welding activities (in certain cases, though, small welds are applied to increase the strenght of the connection).
SOCKET WELD FLANGE
Socket Welding Flanges, SW Flange
Socket weld flanges are connected to pipes using a fillet weld which is executed on the outer of the flange. Socket Weld Flanges are used for small-size and high-pressure piping. Their static strength is equal to slip on flanges, but their fatigue strength is stronger than double-welded slip on flanges.
LAP JOINT FLANGE
Lap Joint Flanges
Lap joint flanges do not have a raised face and are used in conjunction with stub ends . Lap joint flanges are similar to slip on flanges except for the radius at the crossing of the flange face and the bore to accommodate the flanged portion of the stub end.
Price and mechanical properties are higher than ordinary casting flange a grade. The flange is a part that connects the pipe with the pipe and the valve, is connected to the pipe end. It is also used for the flange on the equipment inlet and outlet.

Note:
1. Ring flanges available overbored or counterbored per customer specification.
2. Bolt holes shall be drilled 1/8th inch larger in diameter than the nominal diameter of the bolt, except for flanges larger than 84 inch in diameter which shall be drilled 3/16th inch larger than the nominal diameter of the bolt.
3. Drilling same as ANSI/ASME B16.1 125 lb and B16.5 150 lb pattern.
4. Flanges available overdrilled to accommodate insulators.
5. AWWA recommends the use of dished head assemblies as alternate to blind flanges, sizes over 72" nominal.
6. AWWA C207-01 Class B and D Hub Flanges are identical to Industry Standard Class 125 Light Weight Flanges.

What is the use of a blind flange?

Blind flange is put at the end of pipe or at the junction that would possibly be a future expansion into that direction.
Blind pipe flanges are often used for high pressure applications.
Blind pipe flanges are often used for high pressure applications.
Piping is easier to drill or weld at the construction stage. Once it was in use, drilling or welding will need prolong cleaning especially when the fluid transferred is combustible. For the mean of future extension, either the blind or valve would be used to seal the end.

RTJ Flanges

Ring Type Joint Flange is a method of ensuring leak proof flange connection at high pressures.
A metal ring is compressed into a hexagonal groove on the face of the flange to make the seal. This jointing method can be employed on Weld Neck, Slip-on and Blind Flange.
Ring Type Joint Flanges (RTJ) or Ring Joint Facing Flanges (R-JF):
RTJ flanges have grooves cut into their faces which accept steel Ring Gaskets. RTJ flanges seal when tightened bolts compress the gasket between the flanges into the grooves, deforming (or "Coining") the gasket to make Intimate Contact inside the grooves, creating a metal to metal seal.
An RTJ flange may have a raised face with a ring groove machined into it.
This raised face does not serve as any part of the sealing means. For RTJ flanges that seal with BX ring gaskets, the raised faces of the connected and tightened flanges may contact each other. In this case the compressed gasket will not bear additional load beyond the bolt tension, vibration and movement cannot further crush the gasket and lessen the connecting tension.
An RTJ flange may have a raised face with a ring groove machined into it. This raised face does not serve as any part of the sealing means.

Ring Type Joint gaskets
Ring Type Joint gaskets
Ring Type Joint gaskets are metallic sealing rings, suitable for high-pressure and high-temperature applications. They are always applied to special, accompanying flanges which ensure good, reliable sealing with the correct choice of profiles and material.
